（１）window shopping 中的 window 是從百貨櫥窗衍生而來的，指的是只看不買，或是用眼睛買東西的意思。所以假日去逛街消磨時間也沒有特定購買目標的就可以用 window shopping。
（２）no wonder 裡的 wonder 是指疑惑、不明白。no wonder 當然就是不再納悶了。
（３）* no more 在此處是非常、非常口語的用法。英文文法上正確的用法應該是 anymore，因為 doesn't 與 no more 在同一句中會造成雙重否定(double negative)，而英文文法上這樣是不正確的。這樣的非正式口頭用法大多是都會年輕人在使用。是怎麼來的呢？由於美國有越來越多的西裔移民，這些拉丁民族多半是天主教，主張天然避孕(rhythm method，就是所謂的安全期算法，但大家都知道常常不準) 而不鼓勵不自然的避孕(例如避孕藥或保險套)，再加上拉丁民族早婚早生子的習性，造成人數越來越多，但人數一旦增多但經濟情況無法跟著正比改善，生活品質就會下降，造成居住的環境大多以大城市中較早發展的地區；這些地區由於早期發展，大多顯得較破舊而比較凋零，而在當地出生或長大的拉丁裔小孩由於雙語能力的關係，會將西語中的雙重否定(double negative)習慣帶進英文裡來用，於是慢慢地就影響到都市地區的小孩口語的用法。大家千萬千萬不能用在正式的文書之中喔。

寨主解：That's a given 形容的是大家都知道的事。寨主不是很喜歡以文法來教學，但這裡用文法上來說也許大家比較看得懂，"given" 是 "give" 的過去完成式，既然是被給予的，表示是事實，是理所當然的。Savvy = know; understand 知道、了解的意思，可作動詞或名詞使用。在西班牙文口語當中也用這個字的同義字問"了解了嗎？"。

（１）peg 通常指圓筒柱狀物，用來釘入或插入的椿腳。腳踏車上的「火箭筒」就是圓筒狀插在後輪兩旁的物體。
（２）其他腳踏車配件：
「spokes」 是輪子上一根一根像雷射狀從輪軸向外放射到輪胎的東西。spoke 當作動詞時，是 speak (說話) 的過去式，例如：I spoke with your teacher yesterday. She said you didn't go to school! 
「mudstopper」mud 是泥土，顧名思義擋住泥土的東西就是擋泥板。
「handlebar」顧名思義是整個手把部份的橫槓。
「pedals」是腳踏板，用複數因為有兩個。
「rim」是輪框，就是金屬製的一圈外面撐一圈輪胎皮的。
「tire」才是塑膠製的輪胎皮。
「grip」是手把兩邊手握的橡膠製部份。
「helmet」是安全帽。騎腳踏車一定要戴安全帽喔！
